Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo Names Five New Partners

Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo (AALRR) announces that former AALRR associates Alfonso Estrada, Amber Healy, Jonathan Judge, and Todd Robbins and former senior counsel Davina Harden have been promoted to partnership.

Alfonso Estrada is a member of the firm’s Public Entity Labor and Employment Practice Group in Cerritos. He works with public and private sector clients on matters including employee discipline and claims alleging discrimination, harassment, retaliation, First Amendment violations, and breach of privacy, providing advice and counsel and representation in both administrative proceedings and litigation.. Mr. Estrada also conducts administrative investigations pertaining to employee misconduct and harassment, among other areas. Mr. Estrada previously worked as a Deputy District Attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and as a representative of law enforcement unions. He speaks fluent Spanish.

Amber Healy, a member of AALRR’s Commercial and Complex Litigation Practice Group in Cerritos, litigates class actions and complex business matters in state and federal courts throughout California. Her practice focuses on the defense of employers and management in class action, multi-plaintiff, and single-plaintiff lawsuits and administrative proceedings. She has particular expertise in the area of wage and hour class actions alleging claims for off-the-clock work, unpaid wages, unpaid overtime, and missed meal and rest periods. Ms. Healy also handles matters involving employee privacy rights, wrongful termination, retaliation, whistleblower, discrimination, harassment, and prevailing wage issues. Ms. Healy represents employers from a wide spectrum of industries, including the hospitality industry, hotels, property management, construction companies, entertainment venues, and cosmetic manufacturers.

Jonathan Judge is part of the Private Labor and Employment Practice Group in Cerritos. He advises employers in labor and employment law matters, including drug testing, mass layoffs, disparate impact analysis, WARN Act, trade secrets, privacy, technology in the workplace, piece rate compensation, municipal and state sick leave, local, state and federal minimum wage law, and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Mr. Judge is a graduate of USC Law School and a Contributing Editor to the treatise The Developing Labor Law (Hardin & Higgins, Sixth Ed. 2012). He oversees AALRR’s Labor and Employment Law Blog and the Private Labor and Employment Practice Group’s Client Alerts.

Todd Robbins works in the firm’s Riverside office, as a member of the Southern California Education Law Practice Group. His background as a high school history teacher serves him well in his education law practice. Mr. Robbins represents public school districts in the areas of education law, certificated and classified employee discipline, certificated layoffs, harassment and discrimination complaints, and contract administration. Mr. Robbins also advises school districts regarding matters related to the California Voting Rights Act, the Affordable Care Act, and rights of transgender students and employees. He provides presentations focused on district obligations and best practices for complying with state and federal law when addressing the needs of transgender students.

Davina Harden practices education law in AALRR’s Northern California and Cerritos offices. She represents California public school districts in all aspects of education and employment law. Her areas of expertise include charter schools, student rights and discipline, public employee rights, conflicts of interest, employment discrimination and sexual harassment, and transactional matters, including negotiating, drafting, and reviewing agreements. She works closely with school districts and county offices of education on the full range of issues relating to charter schools. Ms. Harden also conducts investigations into allegations of employee/student wrongdoing on behalf of employers and public entities, and advises employers and agencies on the conduct of their own investigations.
