Six AALRR Attorneys Recognized as 2017 Super Lawyers

Six attorneys at Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo (“AALRR”) have been designated as 2017 Southern California Super Lawyers. This honor is awarded to outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Only five percent of attorneys are named Super Lawyers.

This year’s list includes AALRR partner Irma Rodríguez Moisa, who has been honored as a Super Lawyer for each of the past 14 years. Ms. Rodríguez Moisa is a labor negotiator and trial attorney who represents public and private entities in labor and employment matters. The Daily Journal recently recognized her in its lists of Top Women Lawyers, Top Labor and Employment Lawyers, and Top 25 Municipal Lawyers in California.

Steven D. Atkinson, one of AALRR’s founding partners, made the Super Lawyers list for the thirteenth time. Mr. Atkinson has defended employers for more than 40 years in all aspects of labor relations. 

Mark T. Palin, AALRR’s Managing Partner and the former President of the Orange County Federal Bar Association, was designated a Super Lawyer for the eleventh time. Mr. Palin is an accomplished trial lawyer with over 25 years of experience in business-related litigation.   

Nate J. Kowalski, the head of AALRR’s Public Entity Labor and Employment Practice Group, also has appeared on the Super Lawyers list eleven times. Mr. Kowalski represents employers in both the private and public sectors. He has litigated hundreds of labor and employment cases in state and federal courts.

Thomas W. Kovacich made the Southern California Super Lawyers list for the ninth time. For over 30 years, Mr. Kovacich has exclusively represented employers in all aspects of employment law and labor relations, as well as public agencies in all aspects of public works. He has served as lead counsel in over 50 wage and hour actions.

Joseph N. Akrotirianakis is a highly accomplished trial lawyer, a seasoned commercial litigator, and a decorated former federal prosecutor. Mr. Akrotirianakis has been recognized as a Super Lawyer in each of the three years since he left government service. He is a leading lawyer in the international shipping industry. In December 2016, national publication Law360 named Mr. Akrotirianakis one of the nation’s top five transportation industry attorneys.
