Gabriel Sandoval to Advise the American Bar Foundation’s Network for Justice

This week, Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo (AALRR) partner Gabriel Sandoval began his two-year appointment on the Advisory Committee of the American Bar Foundation’s Network for Justice.  The Network for Justice’s primary goal is to support law and policy that fulfill the promise of equal opportunity and justice for the Latino community in California and nationwide.  It is part of a broader American Bar Foundation research initiative, entitled “The Future of Latinos in the United States: Law, Opportunity, and Mobility.”  

As a member of the Advisory Committee, Mr. Sandoval will provide expert advice on the implementation of strategic goals and objectives of the Network for Justice.  This includes the establishment of a robust, sustainable network among law schools, legal and public policy scholars, community based organizations, and members of the Bar to address the legal, social, and political interests of the Latino community.

“I am honored to serve on the Network for Justice Advisory Committee and assist with the advancement of civil rights and equal justice for the Latino community,” Mr. Sandoval said.  “I applaud the leadership of the American Bar Foundation and its commitment to critically important issues affecting the 56.6 million Latinos in the United States.”

Mr. Sandoval represents educational institutions, municipalities, and private entities in a wide range of matters, including all aspects of education and employment law, and compliance with federal and state civil rights laws.  As part of his statewide law practice, Mr. Sandoval conducts personnel investigations of complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; provides antidiscrimination trainings; and reviews and revises policies to ensure compliance with federal and state antidiscrimination laws.  Prior to joining AALRR, Mr. Sandoval served in the Obama Administration as Senior Counsel in the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education—the largest office of the federal government focused exclusively on the enforcement of civil rights compliance in our nation’s schools and universities.
