Cerritos Attorney Named to Lawyers of Color’s 2014 Hot List

06.25.2014

Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo (AALRR) is pleased to announce that Jabari A. Willis has been named to Lawyers of Color’s Second Annual Hot List, which recognizes early- to mid-career minority attorneys working as in-house counsel, government attorneys, and law firm associates and partners.

Willis, from AALRR's Cerritos office, is a senior associate in the firm’s public education practice, focusing on labor relations and employment law issues, including employment litigation defense. He represents school districts in all aspects of education law, including special education, and has assisted public employers with litigation matters in both state and federal courts. Willis has represented employers in matters before the Public Employment Relations Board, Department of Fair Employment and Housing, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Office of Administrative Hearings.

The honorees were chosen through a two-pronged process. The selection committee spent months reviewing nominations and researching bar association publications and legal blogs in order to identify promising candidates. Nominations from mentors, peers, and colleagues were accepted. The selection committee also made editorial picks of attorneys who had noteworthy accomplishments, especially those active in legal pipeline initiatives.

“This recognition for Jabari is well deserved,” remarked James Baca, AALRR Education Practice Chair.  “He is a dedicated, hardworking attorney who is committed to providing excellent counsel to our clients.”
