AALRR Welcomes Two New Partners to Its Public Entity Labor and Employment Law Practice

Ms. Bond and Ms. Maldonado both joined AALRR from a smaller boutique firm in Northern California, where they provided labor and employment legal services to public agencies and non-profits throughout the state. Prior to that, they both served as Deputy City Attorneys in the San Francisco City Attorney's Office.
Ms. Bond has represented public agencies for over 18 years in labor and employment matters as well as other areas of public law. Her labor and employment practice includes litigation in state and federal trial and appellate courts, workplace investigations, arbitrations, labor relations, advice and counsel regarding compliance with relevant statutes and regulations, handling charges filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Office of Civil Rights and the Public Employment Relations Board. Her areas of expertise include collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act, whistleblower retaliation, due process, discrimination, harassment, disability accommodation and rights specific to public safety officers.
Ms. Maldonado's practice includes advice and counsel, labor negotiations, workplace investigations, litigation, arbitration, and training. Her areas of expertise include discrimination, harassment, retaliation, disability accommodation, leaves of absence, whistleblower retaliation, First Amendment, due process, rights specific to public safety officers, and labor law issues. Ms. Maldonado also advises her public sector clients on government law issues, including California’s open meeting and open records laws and political conflicts of interest.
Nate Kowalski, chair of the firm’s Public Entity Labor and Employment Practice Group, said, “We are very excited that Ruth and Jenica have joined our team. Their experience and legal expertise will fit in seamlessly with our Northern California team, and they will be a tremendous asset to our clients throughout the state.”
