Reasonable Accommodation: Recognizing When an Employee May Need a Reasonable Accommodation and Making the Interactive Meeting Process a Success

Site administrators and supervisors must be equipped to recognize when an employee’s absence or request for leave triggers a qualifying reason for leave and/or a request for accommodation due to disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Employment and Housing Act, and/or the Pregnancy Disability Leave Act.  In addition, both administrators/supervisors and Human Resources personnel must be prepared to engage in the interactive process with the employee and comply with state and federal compliance and confidentiality requirements.  This session will review administrator, supervisor, and HR roles in determining and accommodating the qualified needs of employees in the workplace.
