Community College CEO/CBO Team Workshop

September 25-27, 2024

This will workshop will provide a “hands-on”, practical experience that will assist CEOs and CBOs with legal and operational issues in system budgeting, problem-solving, forecasting, planning, collective bargaining, and local bonding prepared.

Due to the unique challenges facing community colleges, the average CEO term is just over three years.  We have designed this workshop to assist with the development of skills and information to be successful.  Further, to build a communication stream and partnership with the CBO.

Who Should Attend: CEO/CBO teams from community college districts. 

Cohort Workshop Limits: The cohort will be 12 team participants. Space is limited.

Wednesday, September 25, 2024

• 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 pm: Workshop Overview, History of CCs, CCCs and Key Legislation
• 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 pm: Environmental Scanning and Planning
• 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 pm: Hosted Reception (Dinner on your own)

• 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Multi-Year Budget, Forecasting, System Budgeting {311, 320 Reports, Allocation Schedules, Advance Apportionment, P1 and Recalc, May Revise, Exhibit C, P2, SCFF} 
  • 10:30 – 10:45: Break
• Noon – 12:45 p.m.: Lunch
• 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Preparing for Collective Bargaining, At the Negotiating Table
• 2:15 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Community Engagement Strategies, Local Bonding (GO and Lease Revenue)

• four follow-up webinars (the webinars will be scheduled over the course of a year to maintain currency with issues facings community colleges.  Some of the webinars will cover strategic planning and budget building, Governor's budget release, P1 and recalculation release 2025, P2 and tentative budget revision following the May Revise 2025.
