When Employees Cross Professional Boundaries:  How to Detect, Prevent Grooming, Prevent Liability, and Train Staff to Identify Inappropriate Relationships with Students

11.28.2023
Program: 8:30-10:45 a.m.
Location: At Your Desk (Via Zoom)

This training is for School Districts, County Offices of Education & SELPAS in Central Coast Counties only.

Sexual Harassment and Abusive Conduct Prevention Training for Supervisors

Education agencies are often faced with situations involving staff who text with students, communicate on Facebook with students, and have students over to their house. While the behavior is troubling, administrators and HR officials sometimes are uncertain whether such conduct warrants discipline, or whether they even have the legal right to impose discipline. This workshop will help administrators and HR officials distinguish between situations involving poor judgment and likely “grooming” behavior that often precedes actual child abuse. It will also provide guidance on how to develop appropriate policies, train relevant staff, conduct investigations, determine appropriate discipline, and avoid liability.
