In 2020, seemingly in the blink of an eye, technology for public meetings changed, probably forever. The law may or may not keep up, but public expectations will certainly continue to evolve. Serving constituents and promoting public participation and transparency will require adaptability.
Public expectations and familiarity with videoconference technology has changed. This session will provide an overview of basic Brown Act principles that have remained constant throughout the pandemic, as well as an update on the status of “virtual” Brown Act meetings and related legal issues.
