Overview

Sara Young represents school districts and other educational agencies as general counsel. Dr. Young proactively supporting agencies in ensuring practices and procedures comply with legal requirements through trainings, and policies development and revisions.  She frequently conducts impartial and thorough investigations following complaints and allegations of non-compliance and is experienced in conducting broad investigations as well as specialized investigations such as UCP investigations and Title IX investigations.

Dr. Young has experience in all aspects of school district operations including, but not limited to, instruction programs (e.g., independent study, special education programming), employment matters, and general governance.  Her legal practice is informed by a depth of knowledge of the education sphere.  She holds Master's degrees in Education and Special Education, as well as a Ph.D. in Education (Educational Policy). Prior to joining AALRR, Dr. Young worked as an Executive Director for Capistrano Unified School District, working on matters pertaining to informal dispute resolution and compliance in Special Education.
