Overview
Michael Kang is a seasoned litigator and a member of the firm’s Commercial and Complex Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Kang represents individuals, companies, corporations, partnerships, and organizations in all types of disputes, including business, contract, commercial, real estate, shareholder, and trade secrets from inception through resolution.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kang practiced as a litigator for seven years before providing in-house advice and counsel for a privately-owned energy and defense contractor wherein he handled dispute-related matters for the company and its affiliates.

- Defended real estate investment company against solar energy corporation in a breach of contract and fraud case, which ultimately resolved in a favorable settlement at mediation.
- Represented an orthopedic surgery practice in an action against its management and billing companies and advisors for claims of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and professional negligence, which ultimately resolved in a favorable settlement at mediation.
- Defended minority partner against majority partner in a partnership dispute, which ultimately resolved in a favorable settlement.
- Defended technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products in copyright/trademark infringement matter relating to content regulation.
- Represented major telecommunications company in global action involving FRAND defenses and claims, which ultimately resolved in a favorable settlement.
- Represented agricultural merchant in dispute regarding commercialization of a genetically modified product.
- Defended former employees of autonomous driving company against claims of misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of fiduciary duties, which ultimately resolved in a favorable settlement.
- Represented software enterprise company in California state court fraud action involving allegations by former director and major shareholder of securities violations, and successfully obtained summary judgment.
- Defended a Fortune 100 retail company and its former chief executive officer in securities fraud litigation in connection with allegations of FCPA violations, which ultimately resolved in a favorable settlement.
- Advised a Fortune 500 software company in potential pursuit of litigation involving antitrust and UCL claims.
- Brought claims on behalf of a software company against its former founder and current board member for breach of contract and violations of the Securities Exchange Act.
- Defended a Fortune 100 media and entertainment company against a citizen suit claim under Proposition 65, in which a motion for judgment was granted in favor of the company at trial.
- Represented numerous individuals and brokers in real property purchase and sale disputes arising from claims of nondisclosures, which typically resolved in favorable settlements.
