Overview

Joshua Wiser represents public entity clients in various aspects of labor and employment law. Mr. Wiser thinks outside the box, values working relationships across the table, and is experienced at closing politically charged and technically complex negotiations. His practice includes advice and counsel regarding matters involving labor relations, negotiations, investigations, agreements and employee contracts, policies and procedures training, and arbitration.

Prior to joining AALRR, Mr. Wiser worked in Hollywood as Senior Contracts Counsel for the Writer’s Guild of America West. When there was a tricky or strategically important agreement to be reached, Mr. Wiser served as the negotiator. He negotiated multi-million-dollar rights deals, and handled difficult matters, including the interpretation and enforcement of the most complicated aspects of the industry-wide collective bargaining agreement. Mr. Wiser negotiated and enforced individual employment agreements and analyzed budgets and financial reports. Mr. Wiser also previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Silicon Valley, SEIU United Healthcare Workers West in Oakland, and SEIU Local 1000 in Sacramento where he structured and helped close high-stakes deals, including multi-billion-dollar deals. With a keen understanding of accounting and economics, Mr. Wiser has a demonstrated ability to find a creative path to a final deal when others have fallen short.

Honors & Recognitions

Mr. Wiser holds degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Washington School of Law, where he graduated with Honors and earned a J.D. with a concentration in Law, Business and Entrepreneurship, and a LL.M. in Taxation and a Certificate in Accounting. During law school, he traveled on the National Health Law Moot Court Team, and wrote an award-nominated tax policy paper.
