Overview
Abigail Mendez advises public entities in the area of labor and employment and public entity law. Ms. Mendez’s experience includes employment policies and procedures, employee discipline, leaves of absence, and wage and hour issues. Ms. Mendez also guides clients through California Public Records Act requests, Brown Act matters and other legal challenges.
Prior to joining AALRR, Ms. Mendez worked with a municipal law firm representing cities, special districts, and other public entities. Her practice included topics such as California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) disputes, constitutional concerns, and code enforcement.
While attending law school, Ms. Mendez interned in the Airport Division of the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office. She also externed at a Boston-based municipal and environmental law firm. There, she assisted with a variety of local government legal matters, including Brownfield issues, real estate, land use, public records requests, and drafting and interpretation of local ordinances. She was a staff member of the Public Interest Law Journal and received the Albert P. Pettoruto Memorial Award for excellence in family or trust and estate law.
