Overview

Marci Williams represents public school districts, community college districts, and county offices of education in all areas of employment law with expertise in compliance with issues impacting the Human Resources Office, including leave requirements, disability, accommodations, investigations, discrimination complaints and employee discipline. Ms. Williams also assists districts with navigating the layoff process for both certificated and classified employees.

Ms. Williams handles labor relations with employee unions. She serves as a negotiator in collective bargaining, defends districts in administrative hearings before the Public Employment Relations Board, and represents districts in grievance arbitrations and mediations.

Before joining AALRR, Ms. Williams served in various Human Resources roles at West Contra Costa Unified School District for over eight years culminating in her serving as Chief Personnel Officer. This experience allowed her to understand challenges from a client’s perspective and to help educational administrators come to practical solutions to their issues. At the request of districts, Ms. Williams conducts audits of their HR Offices to ensure HR processes are legally compliant and efficient.

Ms. Williams has partnered with Dr. Stephen McCray (ESS) to provide a classified supervisor academy to educate, and train classified supervisors with the foundational knowledge and leadership skills necessary to form and lead high performing and cohesive teams. This training recognizes the critical role these leaders play in the operations of educational institutions.
