Session 1 - Family and Medical Leave:
- Employer Rights and Obligations
This session is an overview of the federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, the California Family Rights Act, and the California Pregnancy Disability Leave Act, as they apply to public education employees. It will help administrators understand what the laws cover, as well as employer obligations to provide leave and appropriate notices to employees.
Session 2 - Making Sense of It All:
- Understanding and Applying Illness Leave Laws
This session will cover employee illness-related leave rights, including those established by the California Education and Labor Codes, FMLA/CFRA, and PDLA, as well as new obligations under the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014 (AB 1522).
