Breakfast Briefing - The IEP Process: LEA Representative Empowerment Training
This training is for new and veteran special education Local Education Agency (“LEA”) representatives. The training is designed to provide information, guidance, resources, and examples of the role of the LEA representative prior to, and during, the individualized education program (“IEP”) meeting. This training will assist special education LEA representatives in understanding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (“IDEA”) required components of a free appropriate public education, identifying potential pitfalls, and developing properly formulated IEPs.
This workshop will directly address the function and responsibilities of the LEA representatives by exploring their IDEA obligations and role.
Participants will leave having acquired the knowledge and skills to effectively manage the IEP meeting, make more informed decisions, improve the quality of the student’s IEP, and enhance conformance to IDEA mandates.
