The Top Three Lawsuits by Police Officers and How to Avoid Them.

The confrontational nature of law enforcement makes police departments prime targets for litigation. Often times, however, the most challenging cases to defend are those lawsuits initiated by their own officers. It is critical that management is able to recognize the factual scenarios that most commonly lead to police officer litigation. We will break down some of the most prevalent police officer claims faced by departments today, including retaliation for protected activity under the First Amendment, sexual harassment, and violations of POBR rights.
