Overview
Jennifer Fain is the partner in charge of the Marin office. She represents public schools, county offices of education, and special education local plan areas on compliance with federal and state laws involving students with disabilities. As part of her practice, Ms. Fain has represented educational agencies in mediation, due process hearings, and federal court proceedings. She also advises on and handles Section 504 hearings and complaints, OCR complaints, CDE compliance complaints, and Uniform Complaint Procedures. Additionally, Ms. Fain conducts investigations into allegations of disability-based discrimination and harassment.
Ms. Fain works with clients proactively to develop practices that will prevent costly disputes, including reviewing current policies and procedures. She develops and provides workshops and in-service trainings for school personnel on a variety of issues relating to special education and disability-related laws. She has presented on special education legal issues at the state and national levels.
Prior to joining AALRR, Ms. Fain was a partner at the Weatherly Law Firm, where she represented educational agencies across the country in all facets of special education and student disability-related laws.
