Warehouse workers strike, file federal charges

Low-wage workers at a Mira Loma distribution center walked off their jobs on Wednesday, July 24, to protest what they call a pattern of surveillance and intimidation triggered by a visit from state health and safety inspectors two months ago.

Also, a worker advocacy group has filed federal allegations on behalf of about 30 workers at Olivet International, a Jurupa Valley-based company that makes handbags, backpacks and other luggage items. It accuses the company of violating labor law by trying to intimidate workers at the distribution center into not discussing working conditions among themselves.
