High Stakes Trial Attorney Joins

Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo’s Irvine Office

IRVINE, Calif. —Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo (AALRR), a statewide firm announced today that Jon R. Mower, a veteran trial lawyer, has joined the firm as a partner in its Irvine office. Mower has more than two decades of experience representing clients in class action and high-dollar complex lawsuits with an impressive record of wins.

Mower has tried more than 50 cases to verdict and handled more than 3,000 litigation matters in both state and federal courts. He has obtained successful verdicts and settlements in cases involving product liability, automobile, professional malpractice, wrongful termination and insurance disputes. He is a member of the exclusive Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, two of the most prestigious groups of trial attorneys in the nation, with membership given to less than 1% of lawyers.

Managing Partner James C. Romo said that an increase in cases involving employment issues, consumer complaints, regulatory and government investigations make the addition of Mower to the firm very timely. AALRR expanded its offices in San Diego and Irvine this past year, and Mower’s presence in the Irvine office signals more investment in the Orange County market.

“Jon is widely considered one of the best litigators in the region, particularly for ‘bet the company’ situations. His trial skills complement the firm’s bandwidth in both the public and private sector. He is an outstanding trial lawyer and we look forward to him joining our commercial and complex litigation group,” says Romo.

Among the cases Mower has litigated over his career is National Union v. CBC Framing/John Vojtech, a lengthy jury trial in Los Angeles Superior Court with claims in excess of $7 million, which resulted in a ruling on behalf of his client. His large battery of wins also includes issues surrounding company control, investment fraud, and wage and hour issues. In Mack v. First Plus Financial, a case prosecuted in the United States District Court, Mower recovered over $10 million on behalf of his clients.

“We’re satisfying a growing client need in the litigation arena,” says James H. Palmer, chair of the firm’s Commercial and Complex Litigation Practice Group and general counsel. “Crafting solutions to client problems and presenting a compelling case before a jury are Jon Mower’s signature talents which will provide us with a deeper resource to serve our clients.”

Mower joins AALRR from Mower and Carreon LLP, an Irvine firm that he helped launch. He earned his Juris Doctorate from UCLA in 1976 and is a frequent lecturer and panelist at continuing legal education programs involving trial and class action law.  Mower is joined by Dan J. Bulfer, a litigation associate from Mower and Carreon LLP who graduated from California Western School of Law, magna cum laude in 2011.

For Mower, the appeal of spearheading AALRR’s expanding litigation practice in the Irvine office was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up. “I have long admired the culture of integrity at this firm. That I get to team with eager, talented litigators with statewide resources fits this new chapter in my career perfectly,” he said.
