California firm Atkinson Andelson Loya Ruud & Romo has bolstered its commercial and complex litigation group with the addition of a Fox Rothschild LLP attorney with a specialty in intellectual property law and experience in entertainment, real estate and bankruptcy cases.

Aaron Craig, who started on June 20, focuses on patent, trademark, entertainment and real estate litigation, with additional specialties in commercial and bankruptcy cases, according to the firm’s June 26 release.

Craig, 41, plans to work on expanding his new firm’s intellectual property offerings, he told Law360 on Thursday.

“It’s a very exciting opportunity,” Craig said. “They have a great team of lawyers who I am looking forward to working with."

Craig was part of litigation teams for Highline United LLC as Converse defended its midsole trademark for the Chuck Taylor sneaker, for software publishing clients FrontRange Solutions and Heat Software against filings by patent holding companies, and for East West Bank and Edible Supply in trademark cases, according to the firm.

Prior to joining Atkinson Andelson, Craig practiced at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP and at Fox Rothschild. He also spent three years in the motion picture legal affairs departments of Paramount Pictures and Viacom.

Craig says he ensures that he understands his clients’ overall business plans and other potential litigation they may be involved in before stepping into the courtroom, to ensure that something said for one case may not be damaging for another.

“I’m extremely proactive in communicating with my clients about the status of their cases and on understanding how the case fits within their overall business strategy,” Craig said.

At his new firm, Craig will help clients analyze the costs and benefits of registering their intellectual property and establishing enforcement protocols, offer opinions about potentially infringing products or designs, and litigate infringement claims through trial.

“I love being able to help my clients with their cutting-edge problems,” Craig said.

Craig received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his law degree from Yale Law School. He is admitted to practice before all courts in California, the Ninth Circuit and the Federal Circuit.

Atkinson Andelson Loya Ruud & Romo has over 150 lawyers and has eight offices in California. The firm specializes in education, labor and employment, construction, complex litigation, corporate, taxation and bankruptcy.
