Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo (AALRR) held its eighteenth annual Employment Law Conference on March 30, 2017 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts and the Sheraton Cerritos Hotel. This year the event, the most comprehensive employment law conference in Southern California, attracted nearly 1,200 human resources professionals, managers, and other professionals.
Participants had a busy day, starting with breakfast catered by the Sheraton. At the morning general session, three of AALRR’s top employment law attorneys—Paul Fleck, Irma Rodríguez Moisa, and Scott Dauscher—spoke about emerging legal and compliance issues. After that, AALRR attorneys offered breakout sessions on twelve different topics, such as helping Millennials become managers, preventing workplace violence, conducting internal investigations, and understanding leave laws. Participants were given lunch, as well as a book of materials from all twelve breakout sessions. At the closing session, Dr. James Doti, Professor and President Emeritus of Chapman University and founder of the A. Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research, provided a comprehensive economic forecast. Finally, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails were served.
AALRR Private Labor & Employment Practice Group Chair Paul Fleck, who has co-chaired the conference with AALRR partners Susan Steward and Amber Solano the last three years, said, “We spend months preparing for each conference, trying to make each one better than the prior year’s. We want every attendee to gain valuable understanding and practical information they can use in their workplaces.”
AALRR will offer a 12-part encore webinar series beginning May 24th, allowing participants to listen to sessions they were unable to attend in person.
The 2018 conference is set for March 29th at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. Sign-ups are already being taken. For more information on this or other upcoming events at AALRR, please visit http://www.aalrr.com or contact Jane Guesnon at (562) 653-3409.
