Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo (AALRR) is pleased to announce the appointment of partner Thomas Lenz to the position of Chair of the California Bar’s Labor and Employment Law Section. His term will begin in September 2017 and will last one year. Mr. Lenz currently serves as the Committee’s Vice Chair and served as its Secretary for the 2015-2016 term.
The California Bar’s Labor and Employment Law Section seeks to further its members’ knowledge of issues related to the field by offering multiple opportunities for education and producing a number of different publications, including the California Labor and Employment Law Review. The Section provides an active forum for the state’s lawyers and non-lawyers with an interest in labor relations and employment issues.
Since joining AALRR in 1992, Mr. Lenz has proven himself a leader in his field. In addition to handling a vast array of complex labor and employment matters, he also helps the State Bar’s Labor and Employment Law Section coordinate the “Your Legal Rights” program on KALW-FM (San Francisco), a weekly radio show broadcast statewide. Mr. Lenz has made several appearances on the show. Reporters frequently seek him out for his expertise on labor and employment topics; his depth of experience is further demonstrated in regular contributions to many law publications, including California Lawyer magazine, Construction Executive, and the Association of Workplace Investigators Journal.
In his practice, Mr. Lenz brings a real-world perspective of a former National Labor Relations Board agent, someone who grew up working in a family business, and someone who has worked in both union and non-union environments to help achieve clients’ goals.
“I’m honored to serve on the State Bar’s Labor and Employment Law Section’s Executive Committee,” said Mr. Lenz. “As Chair, I hope to continue the Section’s great work as a valuable resource for lawyers in the field, as well as to expand resources and access to justice for members of the public on issues involving the workplace.”
