Lena Shiraiwa is a senior associate in the Riverside office of Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo. She represents California school districts and county offices of education in all aspects of education and employment law. Her areas of focus include: charter school law, employee dismissals for certificated and classified personnel, complaint investigations, student discipline and litigation. She also assists governing boards with Brown Act compliance, policies and procedures.
Prior to joining AALRR, Ms. Shiraiwa spent three years at a boutique education law firm. Due in part to the firm’s small size, Ms. Shiraiwa was given a great deal of responsibility handling a wide variety of education law matters. She also worked in-house at a local business bank, gaining significant experience in corporate governance, financial regulations and secured transactions.
Ms. Shiraiwa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and English from the University of Washington, receiving a Kiwanis scholarship. As an undergraduate, she was active in fundraising for charitable organizations benefitting homeless families and victims of child abuse. Ms. Shiraiwa earned her Juris Doctor from Chapman University, Dale E. Fowler School of Law, where she was the President and Marketing Director for the International Law Society.
