Senior Associate

Practice Areas

Katherine Stevens is a senior associate in the Cerritos office of Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo, where she focuses on commercial and business litigation, including the areas of contract, tort, and employment law. Ms. Stevens practices in both state and federal court, and advises clients on a variety of business issues. Should those issues escalate into litigation, Ms. Stevens handles all stages of the litigation process from discovery to motion practice to trial preparation.

Ms. Stevens has managed numerous commercial litigation matters involving disputes relating to contracts, fiduciary duties, fraud, trade secrets, defamation, employment discrimination, products liability and intellectual property.  She specializes in law and motion work and often provides essential legal research and writing support for high profile matters within the firm’s Commercial and Complex Litigation Practice Group.  Ms. Stevens has drafted motions and briefs for every stage of the litigation process, ranging from demurrers and other pretrial motions, to discovery motions, trial briefs and motions in limine, and post-trial motions.  She has also been the lead associate on multiple appeals before the California Courts of Appeal and the Federal Circuit and has extensive experience preparing appellate briefs, organizing appellate records, and preparing for oral argument.

While in law school at the University of Denver, Ms. Stevens interned for the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Colorado. She gained countless hours of experience preparing for and handling jury trials and negotiating plea agreements.  She spent several months with the Appellate Division, during which time she authored two appellate briefs that resulted in favorable decisions for the District Attorney’s Office and one published opinion. Ms. Stevens was also a student attorney with the DU Civil Rights Clinic, where she practiced in both state and federal jurisdictions and prepared a client for testimony before the Colorado State Senate Judiciary Committee.

Ms. Stevens earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from California Polytechnic State University. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she received scholarships for Academic Achievement and Excellence, the American Jurisprudence Award for Trial Practice, and the Reese Persuasive Writing Award for Most Outstanding Appellate Brief in 1L Class, and graduated in the top of her class as a member of Phi Delta Phi and the Order of St. Ives.
