Special Education Local Plan Area

AALRR has been deeply involved in special education and disability issues, legislation and laws for almost 20 years. We provide guidance and counsel to many Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPAs) on a broad range of laws regarding students with disabilities and related issues, including:

  • Special education and due process
  • Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
  • Student investigations and discipline

Our attorneys provide advice to SELPAs regarding special education identification, assessment and placement, the applicability of IDEA and full inclusion. We also have substantial experience representing clients in special education mediations, due process hearings, state compliance reviews and court proceedings.
